It’s no secret to locals that we have some of the most gorgeous beaches around. Soft, sugar white sand with emerald green water makes you feel as if you’re away on a tropical island rather than here in Florida. Every year, there are new lists of best vacation spots, restaurants, weekend getaways, day trips and even best beaches. CNN Travel published an article releasing popular Dr. Beach’s annual list of best beaches and our own Grayton Beach made the list!

It’s hard to believe we are halfway through the first month of 2019. Last year flew by and we have plenty to keep us busy this year. Before we get too busy and all is forgotten, let’s take a look back at 2018 and some of the highlights of the year.
Grayton Beach became the home of the first underwater museum in the United States. The Cultural Arts Alliance collaborated with South Walton Artificial Reef Association to showcase seven underwater sculptures. The sculptures double as an artificial reef proving to be marine life sanctuaries. The underwater museum is approximately 0.7 miles off the shore in Grayton Beach and 60 feet deep.

Grayton Beer Company has unveiled a new line of beer this month. Based in South Walton, the brewery has announced four new beers and updated their packaging and branding with styles familiar to the Gulf Coast. Martin Liptrot, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, says their “designs incorporate images well known to locals and connect with the strong South Walton identity we are so proud of.” Feedback from the locals has been great so far and soon the brewery will be open to the public for tours and tastings.
