5 Ways to Get Artsy on the Emerald Coast

With all the stunning scenery along the beaches of 30A, it’s hard not to get inspired by the natural beauty. Whether you consider yourself an artist or not, there are plenty of ways to unleash your creativity and have a great time with friends. We are lucky to have many different options for an artsy occasion but here are some of our favorites we think you should try.

Fired Up in Seaside, Florida gives you the opportunity to design your own pottery masterpiece. Choose from over 400 pieces at their studio and start planning your design. Stencils, stamps, and idea books are all on hand to help you create as well as other finished pieces on display to inspire you. Once your piece is completed, leave it with the staff for the finishing touches and pick it up the next day! This is a fun way to paint with friends as well as bring home a special Seaside memento.

The Shard Shop has a location in Destin and Grayton Beach and is open for classes, events, or just a fun date night. Using pieces of colored glass and other supplies, you can create your own glass mosaic. Many enjoy using the blues and greens to design an ocean-inspired piece making the perfect picture to hang at home and remind you of your beach getaway.

In WaterColor, the Blue Giraffe offers classes and private group parties from upcycled art and paint therapy to creative writing boot camp and license plate art. It’s a great way to explore your creative abilities and have a good time with friends and family.

The Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) of Walton County is a local arts agency and encourages the community to support the arts as well as take part themselves. The CAA organizes classes at Bayou Arts Center in South Walton for several art avenues throughout the month. You can participate in classes for watercolor, acrylic mixed media, pastel, and more.

You can also have your own craft party at your 30A vacation rental. There are a number of craft stores in town including Michael’s and Hobby Lobby where you can pick up supplies. Pinterest has endless ideas for ways you can take photos or other mementos of your trip to have as a keepsake. Try this journal scrapbook or a clothespin collage frame with all your best beach photos.

Next time you’re visiting our beautiful Gulf Coast, make an appointment for your friends or family and get creative! Or bring all the supplies home to have a big craft party. Pick something that suits you and make it your most memorable vacation yet.
