Things to do for Families on the Coast

You finally got the family together to take that much anticipated beach trip. The beaches have been calling your name for months and now you’re all here together in a little slice of paradise. Whether it’s your first time on the Emerald Coast or you’ve been coming for years, there’s always plenty to do and new things popping up. Here is our list of things to do that the whole family will love.

Of course, the beach is the main attraction around here. This beautiful area is famous for miles of pristine beaches with soft, sugar white sand and clear emerald water. Along with sunbathing, swimming, and relaxing, you can also rent paddleboards or jet skis and have a blast out on the water. When there’s a nice breeze you can bring a kite and the kids (adults too!) will be entertained for hours. Don’t leave too early or you’ll miss our breathtaking sunsets that get better each evening.

The charming Seaside area is one of a kind and attracts people from all over the country. The quaint little town has amazing architecture and colorful cottages that are sure to boost your mood. The town center has all kinds of great food from BBQ and grilled cheese to smoothies and gelato. Sundog Books and Central Square Records upstairs are a must-stop for all your book and music needs or just to get a nice coffe break. Seaside also has seasonal outdoor movies that everyone can enjoy.

The Hub on 30A is another hot spot great for outdoor fun. Movies and concerts are enjoyed weekly with a number of dining and drink options. The center is a spacious lawn with plenty of seating surrounded by Mr. Freeze, Mile Marker 15, Local Smoke, Crust and more restaurants. A 25’ Jumbotron plays movies and sports providing viewing for everyone and a laidback atmosphere. Select nights include dance parties on the lawn with a local DJ. Known around town as the “Greatest Backyard Party of All Time”, the Hub never disappoints.

With a spacious sidewalk parallel to the beach winding along 30A and neighboring areas, biking is a popular pastime on warm summer days. A variety of sizes are available for rental at many local shops so the whole family can enjoy a nice ride soaking up the Florida sun. Alys Beach is a stunning area to ride through surrounded by palm trees, brilliant architecture, and a tranquil atmosphere.

Whether you’re an experienced fisherman or a beginner, some of the best memories are made casting a line and waiting for that nibble while listening to nature. Fishing is a great way to spend family time or even one-on-one time with a child. If you’re more adventurous, you can book a fishing charter and spend a few hours out in the Gulf with a group and maybe even catch dinner for the night.

Anything you decide to do along these gorgeous beaches will definitely make lasting memories. But the most important part is who you spend it with. Be sure to let the moment soak in and enjoy every second spent with family. We only wish these moments together could last forever.
